  1. Who I’m

  2. Comments
    1. When visitors leave comments on the site I collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitorโ€™s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.
    2. An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: automattic.com/privacy. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.
  3. Media
    1. If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.
  4. Cookies
    1. If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.
    2. If you visit our login page, I will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.
    3. When you log in, I will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.
    4. If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after 1 day.

    1. Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

    1. If you request a password reset, your IP address will be included in the reset email.
  7. How long I retain your data
    1. If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so I can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.
    2. For users that register on my website (if any), I also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

    1. While you visit our site, Iโ€™ll track:
      1. Products youโ€™ve viewed: Iโ€™ll use this to, for example, show you products youโ€™ve recently viewed
      2. Location, IP address and browser type: Iโ€™ll use this for purposes like estimating taxes and shipping
      3. Shipping address: Iโ€™ll ask you to enter this so I can, for instance, estimate shipping before you place an order, and send you the order!

    1. Data Used: A pin is embedded using JavaScript resources loaded from Pinterest directly.
    2. Activity Tracked: I donโ€™t track any activity. For details of what Pinterest tracks, refer to their privacy policy.
  18. Brute Force Attack Protection
    1. Data Used: In order to check login activity and potentially block fraudulent attempts, the following information is used: attempting userโ€™s IP address, attempting userโ€™s email address/username (i.e. according to the value they were attempting to use during the login process), and all IP-related HTTP headers attached to the attempting user.
    2. Activity Tracked: Failed login attempts (these include IP address and user agent). I also set a cookie (jpp_math_pass) for 1 day to remember if/when a user has successfully completed a math captcha to prove that theyโ€™re a real human. Learn more about this cookie.
    3. Data Synced (?): Failed login attempts, which contain the userโ€™s IP address, attempted username or email address, and user agent information.
