Marie-Claude Asselin, known professionally as merryclaude and by her signature MCA, is a Canadian-born multidisciplinary artist passionate about pushing creative boundaries. Born in Quebec, since 2002 she has pursued her artistic passions in Ottawa, Ontario.
Marie-Claude is a multidisciplinary and self-taught artist. Guided by her instinct, she is constantly seeking to experiment with new media and push the boundaries of what is possible. Expect the unexpected when you discover her artworks!
Marie-Claude’s artistic style is a dynamic fusion of textures, emotions, expertise and original ideas. Her creative approach is as diverse as her background, incorporating experience in a wide range of fields such as baking, administration, SME management, homeschooling teacher, entrepreneurship, editing, origami, sculpture, digital art, painting, writing, graphic and web design and fine arts.
Her great passion in recent years is digital art. An art that will stand the test of time. She specializes in digital painting, both pixel and vector. She is enchanted by the formal, pure and refined side of vector work. In 2022, she created the Pretty Vitiligo collection, a vector collection made using Illustrator, a software she loves. Pixelated painting allows her to achieve depth and a lot of texture in her works, prompting the audience to feel emotions. She loves adding halftones and asemic writting in her physical and digital works, which allows her to add another dimension, it’s a great joy for her.
